Alex Chang

Alex Chang, a native of Stockton, CA, recently received his Bachelors of Music degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara under the tutelage of Helen Callus. During his time at UCSB, Alex was a selected winner for the Orchestral Soloist Competition, a recipient of both the excellence at entrance and quarterly performance award and spent two years as a string assistant for Santa Barbara Strings. In addition, he has participated in summer festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival and Le Domaine Forget. This fall, Alex will begin graduate studies with Carol Rodland at the Eastman School of Music.

Studying with Professor Callus the past four years has been a life changing experience. The way she carries herself not only as an artist, but as a human being makes her a great teacher and performer, capable of reaching out to all people from every background. After my studies with Professor Callus, I have come out more confident in my own musical personality and gained the tools to convincingly express it. — Alex Chang
